This year members attending the Scranton Convention will have the opportunity to build a DI-O-Modular. There are two age groups, Kids (under 18) and Adult Members. Judging will be by popular vote. There is one prize per age classification. Get Creative!
The LCCA DI-O-Modular is a member built personal diorama module highlighting imaginative skills in utilizing on-hand, available materials to create a usable standalone or a component of a larger display. Starting only with a 10” x 15” piece of fluted Polypropylene (trade name Coroplast or Cor-X) board (the honeycomb plastic material associated with political signs), members are tasked with creating a finished diorama (either flat or vertical). While the final display can consist of almost anything, the creative nature of the task is to find and use available items. Members are expected to use locally available items and products to complete the project. While items that are purchased specifically for this are allowed, the total cost (all in) must be less than $10.00. Some examples of available material include:
1. Images from magazines or printed images used as backdrop.
2. Stones, sticks, etc. found outside.
3. Small items like paper clips, pencils.
4. Discarded items like paper cups, straws, coffee stirrers, water bottles.
Members will have a starter kit of the Coroplast board including two sheets of paper. The paper provides a better base for glue, paint, markers, etc. A member may submit a DI-O-Modular project themselves or can team with other members and have a joint submission.
The DI-O-Modular kit will include a piece of FasTrack which can be used if desired to enhance the final presentation. This FasTrack is not a requirement for the end product.
