Banquets & Receptions

The social heart of the LCCA Convention beats at our receptions and banquets. These gatherings bring members together for fellowship, laughter, and celebration — from the first greeting on Sunday night to the final gift at Saturday’s Gala Banquet.

President’s Welcome Reception

Sunday Evening

The Presidential Welcome Reception kicks off the convention in true LCCA style. Members and their families are invited as guests of the President to enjoy comradery, cheer, and fellowship.

This opening event is the perfect chance to reconnect with old friends, meet new members, and set the tone for the exciting week ahead. All convention attendees are welcome — free of charge.

Held at the host hotel, the reception is a wallet‑friendly way to start the convention with light refreshments and warm camaraderie.

Tradition continues immediately after the Welcome Reception, the LCCA Store opens in the host hotel, giving attendees first access to great deals!

First Timers Reception

Wednesday Evening

If this is your first LCCA Convention, this event is designed just for you! The First Timers Reception is a traditional meet‑and‑greet where new attendees and their families are welcomed into the heart of the club. Light refreshments are served as you connect with fellow members who are also experiencing their first convention.

You’ll have the chance to meet the officers, directors, and volunteers who make the LCCA the “Best Toy Train Club on the Planet™.” It’s a personal introduction to the leadership team and a wonderful way to start building friendships that last well beyond convention week.

Eligibility:

  • Entry is limited to registered members (and their families) attending their first‑ever LCCA Convention.
  • Member qualifications will be verified at this ticketed event.
  • Long‑time members who are attending their first convention are warmly included and encouraged to join.

Cost. There is no charge for this event — it’s our way of saying welcome!

Get Acquainted Party (GAP)

*Thursday Evening

The GAP is a casual buffet‑style dinner filled with laughter, entertainment, and fellowship. It’s a chance to relax, enjoy good food, and share stories with fellow members.

This mid‑week highlight brings everyone together in a friendly atmosphere, making it one of the most anticipated social events of the convention.

Gala Banquet & Silent Auction

Saturday Evening

The convention closes with the Gala Banquet — a night of celebration, entertainment, and surprises. This is a seated, catered dinner with a full menu and a paid bar. Whether you come as you are or break out your finest garments, the evening is designed to be both comfortable and festive.

Every seat comes with a prize, ensuring that no one leaves empty‑handed. But the highlight of the evening is the coveted Banquet Car: at each table, one lucky attendee is selected by game to take home this exclusive collectible, considered one of the most desirable items ever produced by the club.

Seating is determined by attendees signing up at the convention reception desk starting Thursday.  This is a great opportunity for friends new and old to gather one last time as a group.

Alongside the table prizes, the Silent Auction offers unique treasures for members to bid on, adding excitement and friendly competition to the evening.

It’s the grand finale of the week, blending tradition, fellowship, and unforgettable memories — capped by the chance to win one of the most collectible cars in LCCA history.

*Event dates and times are subject to change as needed to ensure the smooth flow of the convention.
