As we gear up for the 2026 Denver Convention, we’re excited to share an update on one of the most common questions we receive: Will there be home layout tours this year?
Home Layout Tours: Why We’re Taking a Different Approach
In past conventions, members have opened their homes to showcase their personal layouts. These tours have always featured beautiful craftsmanship and heartfelt hospitality. However, they’ve also come with challenges — limited time at each stop, tight schedules, and accessibility concerns due to many homes not being ADA‑compliant.
With those factors in mind, the Convention Team made the decision not to schedule home layout tours for Denver. Instead, we’re focusing our energy on creating an immersive, layout‑rich experience right inside the convention hotel.
A Hotel Filled With Operating Layouts
If you love watching trains run, you’re going to feel right at home.
Three LCCA FasTrack Modular Railroad Clubs (FMRR) have already committed to attending, bringing five to six operating layouts between them. We’re also welcoming an additional non‑FMRR club, adding even more variety to the mix.
Throughout the week, the hotel will be alive with Post‑War, MPC, and Modern Lionel equipment — a rolling celebration of the trains we love. Whether you’re a longtime operator or a first‑time attendee, you’ll find plenty to explore.
Seminars and Workshops
Our seminar schedule is still taking shape, but traditionally these sessions are held Monday through Wednesday. As always, they’ll offer a mix of education, storytelling, and hands‑on learning.
Later in the week, the schedule shifts into classic convention traditions:
If you have ideas for seminar topics or something you’d love to see covered, we encourage you to share them. Director Sharon Kempfer is coordinating the seminar program and welcomes member input as the schedule comes together.
Meet the Modular Team
For those interested in the FasTrack Modular Railroad system or curious about the layouts coming to Denver, James “Jim” Petrusek, our FMRR Coordinator, is available to answer questions and help new participants get involved.
Join Us for the Full Week
We truly hope you’ll stay for the entire convention. With layouts throughout the hotel, seminars, special events, and the camaraderie that makes the LCCA community so special, the Denver Convention promises to be an experience you’ll remember long after the trains stop running.
