December 5, 2015 - LCCA Special Event in Lewisville, North Carolina, Recap.

More than 300 people including 45 LCCA members and their families attended the 11th Annual Christmas Open House Train Party at the home of Rich and Kathy Dissosway in Lewisville, NC on December 5th.  This is the fourth year that our Christmas Open House has been designated as an LCCA Special Event.  It was great to see our LCCA friends who have attended the Open House Train Party in previous years, and also, we enjoyed meeting new LCCA members who attended this event for the first time.

Guests were greeted by the Lionel Peanuts Train Set running around a “Charlie Brown” Christmas tree on the front lawn in honor of the 50th Anniversary of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” TV special.  Young Engineers operated the Frosty the Snowman Train Set (with Frosty riding “shotgun” on the tender) while it ran around the Christmas tree.  The main layout in the basement celebrated Lionel Trains from the last 20 years running Christmas cars (old and new), the latest N&W Y6B and “J” 611, the Legacy Southern and Lehigh Valley ES44AC’s, the original Phantom, the Napa Valley Wine Train, the Scale Pennsy GG1 and Green and Red MTA Subways.   The train shelves were lined with about 2,000 Christmas lights creating a festive holiday atmosphere.   A huge buffet rounded out a great evening of fun for train fans young and old.

Thanks to the generosity of our guests who brought non-perishable food donations, we collected over 750 pounds of food that was delivered to the downtown Winston-Salem Food Pantry.  They were very appreciative for receiving the food donations.
