Dec 12-13, 2014 - LCCA at NLOE Open House, Long Island, NY (RECAP)

The Lionel Collectors Club of America (LCCA) had a great Special Event at the Nassau Lionel Operating Engineers (NLOE) December 12-14, 2014 Open House event. LCCA members, families and hundreds of friends all got together for a FREE open house event and enjoyed the Lionel trains running on the largest operating O-Gauge layout on Long Island. The NLOE layout is an impressive 80’ X 35’ layout with several interactive and entertaining accessories and vignettes. I personally love their specially designed operating rocket launcher site.

LCCA Members Steve Koferl (RM 16933) and his brother Joe were there representing the LCCA on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. They had a great time meeting all of the LCCA members, new members from the LRRC as well as off the kids and their families in attendance. Every LCCA member in attendance received their own collectible, LCCA uncut billboard sheet and LCCA commemorative Special Event Pin. Thank you Steve and Joe for help spreading the magic of Lionel trains! The LCCA also donated several door prizes for some lucky members in attendance. As you can tell, people really had fun!

A huge thank you to NLOE President Bob Trnka (LCCA Member RM 32051), the entire NLOE club for their hospitality and hosting this wonderful, family friendly Lionel Train filled event. Thank you Steve and Joe Koferl for representing the LCCA and all of the LCCA members and guest for attending. I want to welcome all of the new members who joined the LCCA during this event. I encourage you all to get involved with the club. I have found from personal experience, the more effort you put into the club, the more enjoyment you will receive. Please share your Lionel train story and experience with other LCCA members by submitting an original article or even hosting a LCCA Special Event in your area. Everyone has at least one good story to tell.

LCCA President Dennis DeVito has established a goal of meeting with 2500 LCCA members and family members at Special Events before our 45th Annual Convention which will be held next year in Danvers MA (near Boston MA) July 20-25, 2015. We welcome your ideas about possible future LCCA Special Events in your area. Please contact me to discuss your ideas.
