LCCA Honors Richard Kughn

The Lionel Collectors Club of America (LCCA) honored Dick Kughn during the Saturday evening banquet (July 30) of the 41st annual convention held at the Hyatt Regency DFW Hotel in Grapevine, Texas. Dick and Linda Kughn were unable to attend this event because of a prior commitment. During the banquet, Tom McComas of TM Books and Video presented a video that included previous interviews with Dick.

LCCA met with Dick and Linda Kughn at their home in Dearborn, MI, prior to the convention and presented to them the first LCCA commemorative “Dick Kughn Box Car” (watch the two-part video of this presentation below). This desirable car was the table prize won by a lucky recipient seated at each table during the banquet.

The commemorative “Dick Kughn Box Car” features the artwork of LCCA member Angela Trotta Thomas. This very limited car depicts a painting of Dick Kughn as an eight-year-old boy finding his first Lionel train set in a trash can. Also featured on the car is a portrait of Dick Kughn while he was the CEO and owner of Lionel Trains Inc. The text on the car reads: “Richard Kughn, Owner Lionel Trains Inc 1986-1995” and “This Young Boy’s Dream Taught Us, The Things You Want Are Always Possible”.

Thank you, Dick and Linda Kughn, for your contributions to the toy train hobby as owners of Lionel Trains Inc. and your continued support of the Lionel Collectors Club of America. We appreciate your friendship and support. We wish you continued success, good health, and a lifetime of happiness collecting Lionel trains.
