December 1, 8 & 15, 2018 - Love Toy Trains at Christmas, Elizabethtown, PA

LCCA member Craig Coble invites you to “Love Toy Trains at Christmas” in Elizabethtown PA  in December, 2018.

For a small town, Elizabethtown, PA comes alive with toy train action each December.  Two outstanding and large displays are available for the public to visit.  One is the Masonic Village Model RR club on the Masonic Village campus.  This club has an entire building refurbished expressly for the train club.  They boast a large O gauge hi-rail display, including a 2 rail O scale trolley line powered by overhead wire.  They run about 15 trains at one time on this layout over hundreds of feet of track and across several elevations.  Also in this building are layouts in Standard, S, HO, N, Z and G scale, and all are of excellent quality.  Donations to the club are invited at the entry.

The other display, built for Christmas fun, is housed in the lower level of the local public library, 10 S. Market St. in Elizabethtown.  This display features a circus area, a double helix, an O gauge layout which is 18x65 ft, and a large G scale floor layout. The entire display runs up to 20 trains at one time and features 50 push buttons around the edge which visitors use to start trains and operate accessories.  Trains run between small communities and business/manufacturing areas and make station stops and freight deliveries.  The layout features models of local historical buildings and operators run trains which range in age from about 100 years old up to current models. A requested contribution of $2 per person at the entry goes to support the library. The Train Guys also feature a guest operator opportunity.  For a small extra fee, visitors can come into the control area and operate trains, including one they may have brought along.

Visiting on 12/1, 12/8 and 12/15 will allow train fans to visit both displays.

The Masonic Village display is open from 11:00 to 4 those days and the Train Guys display is open from 10 to 3 those Saturdays.

We encourage you to visit. There will also be other Christmas activities around the town on those days.
