Lone Star Hi-Railers Announce Fifth Annual Train-a-Palooza

Model Train Swap Meet in Grapevine, Texas

GRAPEVINE, TEXAS  (December 9, 2018) —The Lone Star Hi-Railers model railroad club will host the fifth annual Train-A-Palooza model train show and swap meet at the Grapevine Heritage Center, 705 S. Main St. in Grapevine on Saturday, March 2, 2019.  The Grapevine Heritage Center is located directly across the parking lot from the Cotton Belt Depot in Historic Downtown Grapevine. Train-a-Palooza will be open to the public and model train enthusiasts from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year’s Train-A-Palooza will be an official Lionel Collector’s Club of America (LCCA) Special Event.  LCCA members in the North Texas area are encouraged to attend.

According to Club President John Read, “It is hard to believe this is our fifth year for this event in Grapevine. This city is perfectly located in the heart of the DFW Metroplex, and Grapevine has a long history of railroading dating back to 1888. This year people will be able to ride the new TexRail commuter line to the show in Grapevine from Fort Worth. The actual TexRail train starts service in January 2019 and will run from Fort Worth to DFW Airport through Grapevine.  Grapevine has been a great place for our club’s headquarters model train layout, and it is a perfect location for this train show.”

In addition to exhibitor tables with model train offerings, people attending the event will be allowed free access to the Lone Star Hi-Railers’ O gauge model train layout located in the baggage car across Main Street near the Grapevine Vintage Railroad turntable. The layout is open on weekends, Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on and 12 noon to 3 p.m. on Sundays.

The show is open to the public to buy, sell and swap model trains of all gauges. Adult admission is $2 and children under 12 are free if accompanied by a paying adult. Attendees are encouraged to bring their families and take advantage of the unique shops and restaurants located within easy walking distance on Historic Main Street. The Cotton Belt Depot is the starting point for the famous Grapevine Vintage Railroad’s weekly excursions to the Fort Worth Stockyards as well as many special events throughout the year. Free parking is available at the station and at lots throughout Historic Downtown Grapevine.
