August 20, 2016 LCCA Attends Milwaukee RR Club Picnic - Milwaukee - Recap

The first joint Milwaukee Lionel Railroad Club & LCCA Picnic was held on Saturday Aug 20, 2016, at the LRRC Club headquarters located in New Berlin WI. The program started early at 9:30 am with food preparation of Brats, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Beans, German Sauerkraut, Desserts and Soda. Then the Mini-Swap meet of Lionel train items from club members and LCCA members. The club layout of which included the "dog bone" double mainline, Trolley line, Kid's area double track, the middle main layout three levels high, seven mainlines, and the overhead elevated layout with the Hell Gate Bridge three mainlines were busy with trains operating "on-time".

   

 

The many LCCA door prizes throughout the festive day, which made all the participants happy. Final head count was 48 people attended. Some traveling from the Chicago area, which made this a great event for all. The highlight was a visit by one of the original members, who was the Sargent-of-Arms of the club, some 70 years ago. Yes, the club will be celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2017, at which time many more family events will be planned.

The next Milwaukee LRRC - LCCA program will be the fall open house on Thanksgiving weekend Nov 26 & 27th, 2016 from 10 am to 5 pm (Saturday, Sunday)  It is free for LCCA members (Donations accepted) with train operations, Snacks, minor train repairs and club merchandise for sale.
