Sept 8-10, 2016 LCCA Trains, Planes, Auto Show Geneseo (Recap)

The 11th annual Geneseo Illinois Trains, Planes & Automobiles show took place September 8-10 2016. As the title states this community event involved "car show" with close to 300 autos entered, air planes at nearby airport and of course trains. The trains for this event were models provided by the Geneseo Model Railroaders Club. There was a total of eight operating lay outs on display that included N, HO, O, Lionel Prewar Standard Gauge and Garden trains. Also on display were Prewar and cast iron models of trains.

The Geneseo Model Railroaders Club had a fund raiser for this yearly event. Advertisement space was purchased by local business by use of bill boards / signage on the displays. A "scavenger hunt game" was played by children to see what lay outs had what bill boards & signage and the children along with parents enjoyed playing this game!  Special handouts were given to the children and family involved with the game. From this fund raiser the club will make a donation to the local food pantry at Christmas time.

The train displays were open the day before the car show to local nursing homes and the residents and staff also enjoyed seeing the train displays.

From the L.C.C.A. the club 2016 switching tracks car was run on "O" gauge lay outs. Also provided by the L.C.C.A. was past issues of The Lion Roars and applications for the club were made available to the public.

The goal of the involvement in Trains, Planes &Automobiles for the Geneseo Model Railroaders was to promote our hobby of model railroading with the public. Many of our members are also members of The Lionel Collectors Club of American and this event also provided a chance to promote the L.C.C.A. (see the pictures below).
