LCCA’s May 3, Mr. Muffins Train Event in Carmel IN A Big Success (recap)

Hundreds of LCCA members, local train enthusiasts and young families from the Indianapolis area all had a great time during the LCCA’s Open House event held on Saturday, May 3 at Mr. Muffin’s Train Store in Carmel, IN. The Lionel Collectors Club of America (LCCA) and the Autism Society of Indiana hosted this worthwhile and fun event at Mr. Muffin’s Train store with the star attraction being his new 5400 square foot layout.  LCCA members, local train enthusiasts, young families from the Autism Society of Indiana and Jacob S (and his family) of the local Make-A-Wish (MAW) foundation had a blast operating the remote controller and running trains on this huge layout.  Jacob loves toy trains! Steve aka “Mr. Muffin” and Liz Nelson aka “Ms. Cannoli” and their team of Muffins have fun with everyone while they operated toy trains running on their layout from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  It is amazing how much progress Mr. Muffin and his team of Muffins have made with their massive layout currently under construction.  Steve moved into this new store location on December 1, 2013. There was nothing but bare floors at that time. Just wait until you see this layout during the LCCA’s upcoming 44th annual Convention to be held July 20-26, 2014. Steve’s impressive operating layout is scheduled to be a tour attraction during this convention. For more details about the convention, please visit the convention tab on our website www.lionelcollectors.org

LCCA members and guests enjoyed winning raffle door prizes donated by the LCCA throughout the day. May 3 was a day full of fun and excitement with all of the trains running on this massive layout. Local LCCA member Bill Davis and friends from his local train group were on hand demonstrating a new Lionel/LCCA FasTrack Modular railroad section. We are planning to have local families build their own Lionel/LCCA FasTrack Modular section(s) and bring them to our annual convention to be held at the Marriott East Hotel in Indianapolis July 20-26, 2014.  Prior to our convention, Steve Nelson will be conducting modular railroad building projects in the workshop within Mr. Muffin’s train store.  Stay tuned to our website for future announcements.

We plan to bring new modular sections to our convention in an effort to support the LCCA’s Upcoming Autism Awareness day to be held July 24, 2014 at the Marriott East Hotel. The LCCA is planning to have a Lionel/LCCA FasTrack Modular Railroad layout set up and running at the hotel this July.  This will be a golden opportunity for local Indianapolis train enthusiasts along with Autistic children and their families to participate in our Convention and then have a local modular layout that can be used year round at future local events and functions.  If you have an interest in building a modular section, please contact Steve Nelson at mrmuffinstrains@att.net or by phone at 317.569.1999.  Model railroading is a very educational, interactive, hands-on and creative hobby that can be shared and enjoyed by your entire family. Come and learn more about this wonderful and worthwhile project.

LCCA members gathered, socialized and enjoyed Mr. Muffin’s impressive toy train layout. Thank you to all of the LCCA members, families from the Autism group and Jacob S. from MAW for attending and participating in this fun event. Welcome to all of the new LCCA members who signed up and joined our club during this event. We hope to see all of you again at our 44th Annual Convention in July. Our sincere and big thanks go out to LCCA members Steve and Liz Nelson for hosting this wonderful event.  If you are in the Carmel IN area, please stop by and visit Mr. Muffins Trains store at 146 W. Carmel Drive, Carmel IN 46032 -  317 569-1999.

Stay tuned to our Special Events Tab on our website for more information about LCCA activities that will be occurring at Mr. Muffin’s train store between now and July.
