Charter Member #30 Tom Rains’ Home Train Layout

As part of our 40th anniversary year-long celebration, the Lionel Collectors Club of America is proud to introduce you to Charter Member #30, Tom Rains of Des Moines, IA. In the video below, you will see Tom’s layout.

When we say basement layout, that’s an understatement. Tom’s layout occupies his entire basement. He even had to tear down a cement block basement wall and add a beam to accommodate his layout.

Tom’s expert craftsmanship is exhibited in his custom-designed, hand-built, hinged, lift-up bridges. Check out Tom’s custom-built turntable driven by a home electric can opener motor.
