Lou Caponi - 1951 to 2013 - We will Miss You - In Memoriam

It is with a sad heart that I must inform you that our good friend, long time Lionel Collectors Club of America (LCCA) member, officer and current President of the Lionel Collectors Club of America, Lou Caponi passed away at 6:05 PM EST on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from complications of diabetes.  It is impossible to cite all of the accomplishments and selfless acts that Lou has done for the club and its members.  Lou's club passions were children and product development.   Lou's fertile mind created the many desirable, collectible LCCA commemorative train items that many of you are familiar with and enjoy today.  He was like a pied piper when it came to children during LCCA's annual conventions. Lou was devoted to making the LCCA Junior Membership program a success.  He would always have an entourage of children following him wherever he went.  He was a larger than life personality.  He was proud of his Italian heritage.  Always one to tell a great story, Lou spent his adult lifetime enjoying the toy train hobby and hot rod cars.  Lou once owned Loco Louie's and Train99 hobby shops in PA.  Lou and his family hosted the great 1998 LCCA convention in Philadelphia.  Also known as Loco Louie, Captain Chaos (and many other nicknames), Lou left a lifetime of  Lionel/LCCA Product designs to be enjoyed for generations to come.

Our sincerest, deepest sympathy go to his wife of almost 38 years (September 20th would have been their 38th wedding anniversary), Rose and their son Dominic.  Dominic was Lou's purpose for living.  Nothing can take away the pain and deepest sense of loss that Rose and Dom are experiencing right now.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.

We lost a good friend and brother today.  Let's continue to honor him and follow in his great legacy.  Please give your loved ones, especially the children,  a hug and a kiss in honor of Lou.

Although he is no longer with us in this world, I am certain his presence will be felt and he will continue to follow and influence the LCCA for many years to come.

LCCA President Dennis DeVito had issued a proclamation bestowing Lou with the eternal title of LCCA President Infiniti.   Lou will always be remembered for being a devoted Father, loving husband, Italian, Friend to many and a President of the LCCA.

We love you Lou and we will miss you.

Sincerely,

Al Kolis
"brother from another Mother" & President Elect - Lionel Collectors Club of America
