May 11, 2013 - Arkansas Traveler Hobbies, Bald Knob, AR. will be hosting a National Train Day event on Saturday,.  Activities will include: Hands-on construction of one or more Lionel Fastrack Railroad Modules...Layout design clinics...A Repair and Maintenance station...Forums on the care of older trains, and today's technically loaded locomotives, and Operation Lifesaver classes as well. These are just a few of the planned activities that will take place in and around the 1915 Iron Mountain/Missouri Pacific depot.  Historic cabooses will be open to the public as well.  Don't miss the citywide Bald Knob Homefest going on simultaneously..and on the same street!  Live entertainment, classic cars, great food, carnival rides and much much more..something for the whole family.  

Union Pacific's main line runs right past the depot, as well as the Memphis Subdivision beginning right in front of the historic station. UP power is predominant, along with BNSF traffic, and lots of "foreign" power such as CSX..NS..CN..CP..KCS..and others on a wide variety of trains.    

NOTE: Amtrak has providing (2) round-trip coach tickets good for one (1) year on the Texas Eagle...anywhere from San Antonio to Chicago...upgradeable to sleeper accommodations if you pay the up charge....quite a value....Drawing entry forms will be available only at the May 11 event for the drawing on the May 11 event only.  Drawing will occur after the event - winner will be notified and need not be present.
