LCCA's Model Trains and Real Trains Day SEPT 17
It's a new day at the LCCA! If you are in the Greater Chicago Metropolitan Area on Saturday, September 17, 2011, mark that date on your calendar! The Lionel Collectors Club of America (LCCA) will host a fun-filled, day-long special event with model trains and real trains.
From 9 a.m. to noon, the LCCA will be running model trains with the Kishwaukee Valley & Eakin Creek Model Railroad Club, 13270 Sun City Blvd, Huntley, Illinois 60142 (in Kane County). We will visit their spectacular operating outdoor G-gauge railroad as well as indoor O, HO, and N-scale layouts. Come to that location and meet new LCCA president Dennis DeVito and enjoy a morning full of friends and model trains. Morning admission to the Model Railroad Club is free, so spread the word to your fellow LCCA members and hobby friends.

In the afternoon, we will travel in our own cars to have fun with real trains at the nearby Illinois Railroad Museum in Union, IL (www.IRM.org). This day is the Museum's Showcase weekend, and special trains will be on exhibit. In operation will be the actual Leviathan #63 General steam locomotive rebuilt by Kloke Locomotive Works. Music and entertainment will be provided by the West End Jazz Band. The LCCA will sponsor a raffle of rare and collectible LCCA limited-edition products to lucky members in attendance.
Purchase an adult ticket for the Illinois Railroad Museum at a modest price ($20 for LCCA members and $25 for non-members) at the Sun City Train Club that morning and receive admission into the Illinois Railroad Museum's showcase weekend plus a meal ticket. It's valid that day for a hamburger, cheeseburger, or a slice of pizza; your choice of chips or fries; and a soft drink or bottle of water. Children 3-11 years will receive the food coupon and admission for $15.

Persons who join LCCA that same day will also earn a waiver of the customary Initiation Fee for new members - a $10 savings - and pay only $35 as club dues.
