SAD NEWS -- Passing of Lenny Dean

LENNY THE LION is now aboard the Elysian Express headed for Grand Celestial Terminal at the end of the line.

Lenny Dean, a long-time employee of Lionel who served the company with its founder, Joshua Lionel Cowen, and other company leaders, passed away Monday, July 16th, in mid-afternoon.

He is survived by his wife, Marie - his wife of almost 60 years - and his four children and 11 grandchildren; and  all in the extended train hobby family who knew and appreciated his decades of service to train operators and collectors worldwide. LCCA will send a memorial tribute on behalf of everyone in our Club.

Lenny was involved in new product development and was responsible for countless Lionel products dating back to the 1940s. Many LCCA members remember him as Lionel's Ambassador to train shows and hobby Conventions.

Lenny and Marie attended LCCA Conventions faithfully, and they planned to participate in the 2007 Convention in Chicago during July 22-29. We will honor his life and work at the upcoming Convention and celebrate his dedication to Lionel and his affinity for the Lionel Collectors Club of America.

Two empty place settings at the President's banquet table will be marked by a rose with a white ribbon in honor of Marie and a lily with a black ribbon in memory of Lenny. Please remember Marie and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
